Israeli Culture Series: HaZamir Nosh night - Music and Mingling Israeli Style
Join us for HaZamir Nosh night, an evening celebrating Jewish identity through song, food, and cross-cultural discussions as we host HaZamir Jerusalem here in Rhode Island!
This evening will feature performances and storytelling by teenagers from the HaZamir chapter in Jerusalem along with time for discussion with the visiting singers.
HaZamir unites youth from diverse backgrounds to share their passions for Jewish and Israeli life and music. During the HaZamir Nosh Night, we will recreate the spirit of an Israeli “kumzits,” with nosh platters, soft drinks, and of course plenty of singing! This interactive night focused on “raising our voices” together has something to offer all community members. Come enjoy an Israeli-style snack while learning about life as a Jewish teenager in Jerusalem. Let the shirat HaZamir – the songs of HaZamir – inspire meaningful dialogue as we nurture the leaders and artists of the next generation.
About HaZamir:
The International Jewish Teen Choir, created by Matthew Lazar, is a Jewish, musical youth movement that is pluralistic and inclusive. HaZamir welcomes Jewish-identified and musically talented teens from a broad range of cultural backgrounds and levels of religious observance.
HaZamir offers high schoolers across the United States and Israel the opportunity to learn and sing Jewish choral music on the world’s greatest stages. In weekly rehearsals, regional gatherings, and the HaZamir International Festival, HaZamir teens study Jewish text and history, grow as leaders, cultivate a deep connection to Israel, and create enduring friendships that transcend geographic, political, social, and denominational differences. Together the singers of HaZamir create long-lasting connections, to one another and Judaism, through excellence in music.
