ICS Professional Development Series for Rhode Island Educators: Teaching the History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict Using Primary Sources

via Zoom

Posted
By taking a historical approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict through primary sources and supplemental materials, participants will trace the development of the conflict from the late 19th century to the early 2000s, providing context for understanding this complicated topic. Support for discussion on the Israel-Hamas War will also be shared.

Upcoming Workshops:

3/27/24 - Religion and Politics in the Middle East
Judging by headlines from the Middle East, religion plays an outsized role in the politics in the region. This session focuses on the complex and diverse religious landscape of Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, and Iran and considers the variety of ways that religion and politics are intertwined.

Knowledge of the world’s religions is essential for understanding history, literature, art, and contemporary events, as well as cultivating mutual respect amongst different faiths. Explore one of the world’s oldest religions as we highlight Judaism’s beliefs, behaviors, and experiences of belonging and provide a framework for teaching about all religions.

Led by the Institute for Curriculum Services and presented in partnership with the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island and the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center, these virtual workshops are held on Wednesdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm.
