First Event: A workshop for people working in faith communities, based on the key concepts of From Longing to Belonging —belonging and inclusion. Christensen will talk about the importance of inclusion for people with disabilities and mental health conditions, and participants will learn ways to set priorities to move organizations forward.
Second Event: An event for parents and people with disabilities and mental health conditions to discuss ways to encourage faith communities to become more responsive, accepting, and inclusive.
About the author: Shelly Christensen is the co-founder of Jewish Disability, Awareness, Acceptance, & Inclusion Month, and a past president of the American Association on Intellectual Disabilities Religion and Spirituality Network. She directed the award-winning Minneapolis Jewish Community Inclusion Program for People with Disabilities. She believes that everyone should have the opportunity to be a valued member of their chosen faith community.
